Robbie Williams-billetter
Subsequent albums The Ego Has Landed, Sing When You're Winning and the crooning Swing When You're Winning cemented Robbie's unshakeable position as a pop star in the truest sense. 2006's Rudebox saw Robbie take a more experimental direction with straight ahead pop eschewed in favour of dance and electro. Reviews were mixed with critics either commending Williams for the boldness of his experimentation while others criticised saying the change was too radical and ill-conceived. In early 2007, rumours of a new album written with former collaborator Guy Chambers began.
Entitled Reality Killed the Video Star, the album also features songs written with Mark Ronson. Produced by Trevor Horn (ironically the singer in the band The Buggles who sang the song ‘Video Killed the Radio Star’), the album is due for release on 9 November 2009. While his solo career looks set to re-explode, rumours of a reunion with Take That continue to resurface. Now in regular contact with his former bandmates, rumours indicate that the door will never be fully closed on the possibility of Robbie performing with Gary, Mark, Howard and Jason again. Robbie’s track record for collaborations is diverse to say the least, having previously sung a duet with pop princess Kylie Minogue on the single ‘Kids’ (from album Sing When You’re Winning) and Nicole Kidman on a cover of the Frank and Nancy Sinatra classic ‘Somethin’ Stupid’ (on album Swing When You’re Winning.) Other collaborations include a duet with Mexican music star Thalia on a new English language album. Interestingly, Robbie also happens to be the highest selling non-Latin artist in Latin America, having sold over 3 million albums there. Robbie will also no doubt be chasing the success in the US which has largely eluded him by his own high standards and sales. Let’s hope for more concerts like Robbie’s historic, record-breaking Knebworth gigs in the future.
